When I was a little girl, there was nothing quite like Book Fair Day.
I couldn't wait to walk through the doors and see shelves filled with colorful books that promised magical adventures. My favorite part was the spinning rack of bookmarks. There were so many to choose from that it was almost impossible to pick just one! I usually paired my new bookmark with a fun eraser, a few special stickers, and, of course, a book I couldn't wait to read.
Those little treasures became some of my happiest childhood memories.
As I grew older, my love for stories never faded. I realized that books have an amazing way of helping children feel brave, understood, and never alone. They remind us that ordinary moments can become extraordinary adventures.
Today, I'm a mom, and one of the greatest joys in my life is watching my daughter discover that same magic. Together, we look for ways to spread kindness—whether it's inviting someone to play who is sitting alone, reading to a dog, helping a neighbor, or donating toys and clothes to children who need them. I hope she grows up believing that kindness is one of the greatest adventures of all.
That's why I created the Samantha "Sam" Scott series.
My dream is to help children fall in love with reading again—not because someone tells them they have to, but because they can't wait to turn the next page. I hope these stories inspire children to laugh a little louder, imagine a little bigger, believe in themselves, and always choose kindness.
Writing has always been part of my family's story. In 1895, my great-great-great-grandfather faithfully wrote about his journey from Germany and Russia to the United States, preserving his experiences one page at a time. My grandmother has spent years writing memoirs of her own childhood. Their love of storytelling has been passed down through generations, and I feel incredibly grateful to continue that tradition by writing stories for young readers.
Thank you for sharing this adventure with Sam and me.
I hope these books become the kind you read under the covers with a flashlight, carry in your backpack, mark with your favorite bookmark, and remember long after you've turned the last page.
With gratitude,
Brandy Campo
